Brisbane's City Glider
On the heels of Sydney, Brisbane is vying for the title of Traffic Congestion King but smart commuters know that when the going gets tough in Brisbane you hit the Buses or City Cats (river).
Whether you are a resident or a visitor to Brisbane Queensland you really must get friendly with the City Glider buses. You can't miss them - they are blue and have the cutest little Sugar Glider logo on them.
The City Glider route traverses the inner city suburbs of West End, South Brisbane, The CBD, Fortitude Valley and Newstead/Tenerife. As a Precinkt follower you'll know that some of Brisbane's best Precinkts exist along this route eg. Montague Rd West End, Boundary St West End, Southbank, The Cultural Precinkt etc
You can visit the City Glider site here to view its stops and route.
"Hmmm the City Glider will take me to cool Brisbane Precinkts and avoid congestion but what else is good about it?", you ask.
- City Glider trips are pre-paid. This means travellers can board quickly. There's no fussing with fares with the driver.
- Stops are less frequent than a normal route to speed up the travel
- You can enter and exit via both doors
- The buses are modern, clean and super reliable
- City Gliders run every 5 minutes in peak time and every 15 minutes off peak
- It's a 24 hour service on Friday and Saturday
For a visitor to Brisbane, because the Gliders are ticketless, you'll need to purchase a GoCard from your nearest Brisbane newsagent or 7Eleven. Get the friendly shop assistant to explain how to use it (Touching On & Touching Off).
Now hop on!
